Bison, snakes and a picnic

Friday evening was a beautiful night to spend time at the Battelle Darby Metro Park. Matt, Louis and I hiked a mile into the park to see the Bison. On our way back, we found a snake which Louis seemed to think was neat. I, on the other hand, almost fainted from terror. I hate snakes!

Then we ate our picnic dinner, cleaned Louis up, got him in his pjs and headed home a little after 8 pm. It was such a great way to kick start the weekend.

We had to run the entire mile in to see the Bison. I wore Flip Flops!

When we weren't running, we had to dance.

New bikes

We shaved 20 minutes off of our 7-mile commute to work this morning thanks to the new bikes we bought at BikeSource in Clintonville. The weather was beautiful - cool and dry. A perfect morning for the ride in.

Edible Columbus Illustrations

Edible Columbus Magazine is seeking summer harvest illustrations for their upcoming publication. Here are the 'best of the best' from my collection. I hope one or two of these are usable. If not, it was still fun capturing these images. Enjoy!

Garden ready

Several weeks ago, we started some of our seeds indoors. This week, we've finally been able to get those seeds in the ground. Louis has loved helping all along the way. The garden has been that 'something special' that he and Matt do together. This year we're planting eggplant, onions and corn for the first time. And, we'll have our annual favorites - green beans, tomatoes, garlic, green onions, zuchini as well as all of our herbs!

Biking around town

Matt biked to work again today! The forecast called for rain during the am rushhour, so I didn't plan on riding in. What a lovely morning it turned out to be!

It takes me an hour to make the 6.7 mile trip from our house to work, so it requires that I make preparations the night before and that I'm out of the door by 7:30 a.m.

Matt, on the other hand, can get to work in 30 minutes so he can decide at the last minute if he's going to bike in. To make the commute more comfortable and hopefully faster (for me), we're thinking about investing in new bikes like this commuter or hybrid.

My second-hand youth mountain bike just isn't working!
